Best Low Profile CPU Coolers ( Intel & AMD ) in 2022

The quantity of heat that gaming visuals and mechanics generate on CPUs and GPUs is unprecedented. The main output that we see on our display is a bundle of electrons travelling via tiny semiconductor circuits.

The processor is one of the significant components subjected to high processing demands; this generates a lot of heat, which must be evacuated.

Many additional variables may cause an increase in heat generation. However, workload, architecture, and overclocking are the primary causes of heat loads.

Some are enormous and intended for severe overclocking, but they will not fit in every case. SFF (small form factor)and HTPC cases are increasing market penetration.

However, they need tiny coolers to accommodate them. There is just a little amount of space between the CPU socket and the chassis panel. This is where the best low-profile CPU coolers come into play.

We have prepared a list of CPU coolers for overclockers so that you may choose the best low-profile CPU coolers for overclocking. They are effectively built with excellent heat evacuation capacity; some even allow overclocking. They can keep your CPU cool while taking up a fraction of the space of full-sized coolers.

Product Description

The Noctua NH-L9a-AM4 CPU cooler is the easiest to install and has a short height of 37mm (with the heat sinks and fan), allowing it to fit in any compact form factor PC case. It has a TDP of 61 watts and is entirely compatible with any RAM module on the market.

The footprint is so tiny that it does not affect PCIe cards. It results in cooler RAMs and PCIe cards, critical in densely packed components within compact PC chassis. It is the most delicate high-end low-profile CPU cooler.

If you look for the best low-profile CPU cooler am4, you will not find a lighter, quieter, and smaller CPU cooler than this. The disadvantages of this cooler are that it has a lower TDP than high-end CPUs with AM4 sockets.

In addition, we are worried about the poor overclocking capability of the CPU cooler. Finally, most people hate the unusual colour theme, but the substance and quality make them desire it even more.

This is a low-profile cooler built for silent operation, and when it comes to noise levels, the NH-L9x65 destroys its competition.

Reasons to Purchase

  • Simple to install.
  • Exceptional size/cooling capacity.
  • Exceptionally low 37mm profile.

Reasons to Avoid

  • Only an AM4 socket is available.
  • Unusual colour scheme.
What didn’t the Editor appreciate about it?

There isn’t anything to complain about when it comes to what the NH-L9-am4 sets out to achieve.

Aesthetics, on the other hand, are essential in putting up a complete arrangement. Noctua has begun to manufacture coolers in black, but not this one.

What did the Editor appreciate about it?

For a good reason, Noctua’s NH-L9-am4 CPU cooler is rated first on my list. This cooler delivers on almost every promise made by Noctua.

If you can accept that the somewhat odd colour scheme may prevent this cooler from blending in with the rest of your gear, you’ll be pretty happy with the NH-L9-am4.

It is the best low-profile CPU cooler for both Intel and AMD, which is affordable.

Product Description Noctua NH-L9x65

If you want the best low-profile CPU cooler am4, the Noctua NH-L9x65 with 84 TDP is an excellent option. It includes a Noctuas premium NF-A9x14 fan with a speed range of 600 to 2500rpm. With LNA, the lowest achievable noise level is 14.8 dB. (A). It is the best low-profile mid-range CPU cooler.

The whole CPU cooler is made of high-quality materials, mainly copper, and the fan is just 14mm tall. It is entirely compatible with RAM heights and PCIe cards.

This cooler does not provide much overclocking headroom when compared to the other coolers on our list. The price is considerably more significant than others, but it offers adequate thermal performance. The fan noise is substantially increased at full power if the low noise adaptor is not used. Users do not enjoy the hue; the beige and brown colour combination is not for everyone, even though it aids Noctua in maintaining its brand image.

Reasons to Purchase

  • The SecuFirm 2 mounting kit makes installation a breeze.
  • Very silent mode of operation.
  • Non-OC cooling is very efficient.

Reasons to Avoid

  •  Expensive
  • No overclocking potential.
What didn’t the Editor appreciate about it?

There isn’t much to complain about when it comes to what the NH-L9x65 sets out to accomplish.

Aesthetics, on the other hand, are essential in putting up a complete setup. Noctua has started to produce coolers in black, but not this one.

Product Description Noctua NH-L9i

In every product, Noctua lives true to its name. Each product’s operation reflects the brand image of the quiet goods they have created. The Noctua NH-L9i is a fantastic 37mm ultra-low profile cooler from Noctua, ideal for small form factor PC cases and HTPC.

It is the best high-end low-profile CPU cooler on the market. It comes with an NF-A9x14 PWM quality fan, which guarantees quiet operation. A premium-grade accessory, NT-H1 heat compound, is also included in the package.

The cooler’s thermal capacity suffers as a result of everything being packed into such a tiny area. It has an NSPR of 59, equal to TDP in watts; most CPUs have higher baseload thermals than this number.

There are just a few CPUs that are suitable with such low TDP. Overclocking is impossible due to the thermal stress this cooler can withstand. It is designed to operate CPUs at baseload. It is still the most exemplary low-profile CPU cooler for an am4 processor.

Reasons to Purchase

  • Construction that is strong and long-lasting.
  • The SecuFirm2 mount is straightforward to install.
  • Because it doesn’t take up much space, it doesn’t interfere with RAM or PCI-e slots.
  • A low noise adapter comes with the box to reduce noise.

Reasons to Avoid

  • It has certain TDP restrictions, making it unsuitable for high-wattage CPUs.
  •  Low cooling power.

What didn’t the Editor appreciate about it?

If you decide to invest in this air cooler, you will be well protected since it is associated with a reputable brand name.

It is one of the finest low-profile CPU coolers for Intel CPUs, providing a 13% increase in cooling over standard Intel coolers. However, the OC performance remains pitiful. In addition, the NH-cooling, L9i’s, although excellent for a cooler under $50, is only suitable for low-wattage CPUs.

What did the Editor appreciate about it?

The Noctua NH-L9i is simple to set up and quickly gets you up and running. Its overclocked performance isn’t very noteworthy, but it’s an excellent option for low-profile coolers.

On top of that, it isn’t too taxing on the pocketbook.

Product Description Be quiet! Dark Rock TF

The Dark Rock Tf seems to be beautiful. This CPU cooler has a beautiful design for a low-profile CPU cooler, and I believe it deserves some credit for that. The Dark Rock Tf has two 135mm fans that spin at high speeds while making as little noise as possible. With dimensions of 162.6 x 140 x 130.8 mm and a weight of 810g, you can easily incorporate this cooler into your small form factor boards. In addition, six high-performance 6mm heat pipes are sandwiched between the fins.

The Dark Rock Tf has a dual-fan design with a heatsink sandwiched between them. The installation is more complex than with the previous two Noctua coolers:

  1. Apply thermal paste to the backplate of your socket.
  2. Install and screw in the appropriate mounting brackets.
  3. Place the fan above the heatsink.

The installation procedure may seem difficult to those who are unfamiliar with it. However, the low-profile cooler is compatible with both Intel and AMD processors. For small form factor builds, the cooling should be more than sufficient.

Reasons to Purchase

  • Better cooling performance
  • A pretty silent fan during operation
  • Reasonably reliable for long term usage
  • Highly affordable CPU cooler Great for replacing the faulty stock cooler.

Reasons to Avoid

  • A bit on the larger side.

What didn’t the Editor appreciate about it?

The Dark Rock Tf cooler is excellent. It is offering significant improvements over the stock cooler that comes standard with AMD and Intel CPUs.

This good CPU cooler, on the other hand, is not cheap. When compared to the coolers listed before, this one is almost double the price. With the Dark Rock Tf cooler, you get what you pay for, but it will undoubtedly cost you a lot of money.

What didn’t the Editor appreciate about it?

The Dark Rock Tf is a high-quality, premium, low-profile cooler. It handles not just stock but also overclocked performance very well.

However, this cooler comes with a high price tag. Nevertheless, the Dark Rock Tf makes excellent use of your money from a price-performance perspective and is unquestionably a worthwhile purchase. Furthermore, because it manages OC load effectively, the Dark Rock Tf is the best low-profile CPU cooler for overclocking.

Product Specifications

Product Description Cooler Master i71C

The Cooler Master i71C is visually distinct from the previous three coolers listed. This one, unlike the others, does not have a large heatsink sandwiched between twin fans. Instead, the design is straightforward, consisting of a metal heatsink with 57 fins and a 120mm fan. The heat pipes are copper-exposed and go closely through the i71C’s fins. The copper insert offers excellent heat dissipation, which aids in cooling your CPU. You can see through the fan blades, which helps in the RGB lighting of this cooler…

This cooler is designed to work with LGA115x chipsets. Align the Cooler Master i71C’s backplate with your socket and put the fan in position. Apply thermal paste to the mount bracket and tighten it down.

This cooler is very tall, standing at 60mm tall, and weighs 385g. Some low-cost motherboards may have one neighbouring RAM slot disabled. It does not entirely obstruct the slot but instead glides through it. It does, however, leave a tiny amount of room. For small form factor builds, the cooling should be more than sufficient.

Reasons to Purchase

  • RGB lights are compatible with a wide range of different manufacturers.
  • Even when loaded, the noise level stays extremely low.
  • Excellent bang for your money.
  •  Great cooling performance.

Reasons to Avoid

  • You might end up losing one RAM slot.

What didn’t I appreciate about it?

One thing that irritated me was that this cooler, sadly, ended up obstructing one RAM slot. So this cooler is simply slipping past the nearest RAM slot to your LGA115x chipset socket, leaving very little space for that slot to be utilized.

What didn’t Editor appreciate about it?

The Cooler Master i71C provides excellent value for money for a cooler that costs about $20. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to obtain a keyboard that offers a substantial thermal benefit over your standard cooler.

On top of that, you get a more excellent RGB light that can be synchronized with various suppliers. Unfortunately, I don’t anticipate this one to take OC load since the temperatures were near 90 degrees Fahrenheit, which is a frightening figure.

Product Description ARCTIC Freezer 11 LP

Until now, the Arctic has launched a lot of coolers and has always done a fantastic job of pleasing consumers. The Arctic Freezer 11 LP is an excellent entry-level cooler. Not only is it ideal for HTPC cases, but it also gets your cooling up and running quickly.

This is a little cooler, measuring 53mm tall and weighing about 400g. It includes a 95mm PWM fan and two copper heat pipes that go into the heatsink, which has 50 fins of its own.

Arctic’s Freezer 11 LP has a push-pin construction. After positioning the Freezer 11 LP, insert the little plastic pins to click into place. The installation is fast and straightforward, with no complications.

The push pins are first put into the supplied mounting bracket. This is ideal for a low-cost cooler since you can get straight to work.

Reasons to Purchase

  • The push-pin design and pre-applied thermal compound make installation a breeze.
  • Because of its low profile, it is excellent for HTPC cases.

Reasons to Avoid

  • It can only be used with Intel CPUs.
  • It is not recommended for CPUs higher than 90W.

What didn’t I appreciate about it?

Although the Arctic Freezer 11 LP promises to support various chipsets, it does not support AMD CPUs.

AMD CPUs are currently more popular than they were before.

Furthermore, you should be aware that this cooler is only suitable for CPUs rated at less than 90W.

In fact, the closer you go to this point, the minor performance increase you’ll notice.

What didn’t Editor appreciate about it?

The Arctic Freezer 11 LP is readily available to almost everyone. This is an excellent option for those with light loads which do not need a high-performance cooler.

It can’t take heavy loads very well, but it will significantly improve the standard Intel cooling. This might be a handy low-profile RGB CPU cooler.

Product Description Cooler Master MasterAir G100M

Cooler Master MasterAir G100M looks like something from a sci-fi film, yet it isn’t well-known for its cooling capabilities alone. In addition, it features a one-of-a-kind design that places a heat column directly in the centre of the cooler. This UFO-inspired cooler also has RGB LED lighting that can be adjusted through a remote…

The liquid-vapour phase transition provides more excellent heat transmission capabilities in a smaller dimension with a copper powder. Its one-of-a-kind design distinguishes it as the most OK enthusiast low-profile CPU cooler.

With a height of just 2.9 inches, this cooler avoids RAM and PCIe slots. It has a thermal design power of 130W, which covers the majority of CPUs on the market from both Intel and AMD. It is the most OK low-profile CPU cooler for overclocking since it has a little overclocking potential.

It does, however, have certain disadvantages. According to several customers, installing this cooler is a nightmare. The finished product is stunning, but it takes time and works to put together.

Reasons to Purchase

  • It includes a wired RGB controller.
  • The top-down airflow also helps to keep other components of your PC cool.
  • Best cooling performance.

Reasons to Avoid

  • The installation procedure is too complex.
  • For OC mode, the handling is terrible.

What didn’t I appreciate about it?

To begin with, the installation is a bit more complex than necessary. You must pay attention to several details as well as construct the whole cooler.

This will be especially tough for newcomers who have never done this before. Temperatures may reach 95 degrees Celsius, which is a significant red signal. Furthermore, this cooler is incapable of handling high loads or OC settings.

What didn’t Editor appreciate about it?

This cooler is not the same as the others. Cooler Master departs from conventional cooler design by introducing the MasterAir G100M, a flying saucer-style RGB cooler.

It is inexpensive and allows for extensive RGB customization. It is one of the finest low-profile Ryzen coolers due to its wide range of AM4 chipset compatibility.

Product Specifications

Brand: Cooler Master | Socket Compatibility: LGA2066, LGA2011-v3, LGA2011, LGA1200, LGA1150, LGA1151, LGA1155, LGA1156, LGA1366, LGA775, AM2, AM2+, AM3, AM3+, AM4, FM1, FM2, FM2+ | Heatsink material: Heat Column, Aluminum Fins | Max. Product Description Cooler Master G200P

Cooler Master MasterAir G200P is the most significant overall low profile CPU cooler for your tiny form factor PC if you want the best value for money with great looks. Most consumers base their product choices on how well the components blend visually.

If you like RGB, this is the finest low-profile CPU cooler am4. The cooler’s performance is reduced when the surface area of the fins is diminished, yet the more excellent master still has a TDP of 100W.

The price at which this cooler is offered is excellent. However, there are some drawbacks:

  1. The RGB is a stand-alone device that does not support synchronizing with any motherboard manufacturer. The cooler’s performance suffers and falls slightly short of the Wraith cooler, but if you want RGB, this is the way to go on a cheap.
  2. The more excellent master provides a limited warranty. A two-year warranty term demonstrates their faith in the product’s quality.
  3. It is the most OK overclocking CPU cooler with a low profile.

Reasons to Purchase

  • Budget-friendly.
  • Aesthetically appealing.
  • Thermal paste is provided.

Reasons to Avoid

  • No RGB Sync.
  •  Small warranty.

What didn’t Editor appreciate about it?

This CPU cooler is a little pricey for a low-profile and compact form factor CPU cooler. As a result, you should take care of it. There’s also the issue of size to consider. While the height is enough, the total proportions are a bit too spread out.

With that, plus the five heat pipes protruding from the cooler, this cooler may take up a lot of space within your case. However, it makes up for it by providing excellent cooling, although you may lose a port or two in the process.

What didn’t Editor appreciate about it?

For a low profile and small form factor CPU cooler, this CPU cooler is a bit expensive. As a consequence, you should look after it. There’s also the matter of size to think about. While the height is sufficient, the overall proportions are a little too spread out.

With that and the five heat pipes protruding from the cooler, this cooler may likely take up a significant amount of room inside your case. It compensates by offering excellent cooling, but you may lose one or two ports in the process. Nevertheless, this compact cooler can fit HTPC, AIO/PIO, POS terminal, and even Mini PC.

Thermaltake Engine 27 1U

Thermaltake Engine 27 Low Profile CPU Cooler Supports Intel Socket LGA 1150/1151 - Silver

Amazon.com
as of April 25, 2024 9:07 am

Product Description Thermaltake Engine 27 1U

The Thermaltake Engine 27 1U comes next on our list of the finest low-profile coolers.

This cooler strikes a compromise between cooling capacity, size, and aesthetics. Thermaltake took a new approach to cool with this cooler, combining air cooling with kinetic cooling.

All of this is made up of a single metallic framework. The Engine 27 1U has a round form with a copper base at the bottom. A high-speed spinning metal structure in the middle cools the CPU.

It stands just 27mm tall and weighs 360 grams. The exterior structure is made up of 119 fins. The fans are intended to provide the most significant amount of airflow and pressure to cool the CPU efficiently.

Reasons to Purchase

  • Petite frame size so can fit in easily.

Reasons to Avoid

  • Does not offer any significant improvements over a stock cooler.
  • Very highly-priced.
  • Sound levels can get a little annoying.

What didn’t Editor appreciate about it?

This cooler is very expensive for one that does not provide substantial cooling benefits.

Temperatures reach excessively high levels for even stock load. (For such a high-priced cooler, it fails to compete with and meet the standards of its rivals. So let’s not even get started on overclocking.)

What didn’t Editor appreciate about it?

This cooler is an unusual option. For starters, there is hardly any improvement over the standard Intel or AMD cooling. (Even if there is, Engine 27’s load management is awful.)Small CPU cooler that offers performance well above the level of standard low-profile CPU coolers.

The cooling performance is inferior for a cooler with this price tag. However, if you are not planning to handle heavy loads and don’t have a lot of extra space within your casing, the Engine 27 1U may be a good choice.

$19.83  in stock
Amazon.com
as of April 25, 2024 9:07 am

Product Description SilverStone NT08-115XP

The SilverStone NT08-115XP comes next on our list of the finest low-profile coolers. SilverStone follows a somewhat different route than another cooler in terms of designs. It’s comparable to Intel’s standard CPU cooling. The SilverStone NT08-115XP is our pick for the best affordable low-profile coolers for Intel CPUs.

The fins are round, but the fan is different. The fan supports square shapes, while Intel supports circular shapes. It’s a significant upgrade over any standard cooler. It is a good option because of its low cost and compatibility with most Intel sockets.

The fins are made of aluminium instead of copper, which other manufacturers use for low-profile goods; this reduces efficiency. Because the fan is 92mm in size, it cannot be replaced. There aren’t a lot of alternatives. At full RPM, it makes a lot of noise (28.98dbA). It is not advised for a high TDP CPU since it will force the fan to run at full power, causing considerable noise. Nevertheless, it is still the most acceptable low-profile CPU cooler for an am4 processor.

Reasons to Purchase

  • The price is reasonable.
  • Small (1.34″ tall).
  • Intel replacement stock cooler
  • Excellent compatibility with both AMD and Intel CPUs
  • Universal socket compatibility
  • Intel stock cooler replacement

Reasons to Avoid

  • It might be a bit difficult to install it, but not if you are a pro!.
  •  No RGB.
  • No overclocking.

What didn’t Editor appreciate about it?

This cooler may be considered an enhanced version of an Intel standard cooler based on how it looks and operates. It looks great but does not perform well in terms of cooling.

In addition, it is only suitable for CPUs with a power rating of 60W. The Shadow only supports Intel 115X socket, as if that weren’t enough.

Low-profile CPU coolers have lesser cooling performance compared to regular air and water CPU coolers,

Final Words

CPU coolers are an essential component of your computer. They keep CPU temperatures under control, extending CPU life and preventing thermal throttling.

However, the CPU heats up as a result of the energy passing through it. If we raise the burden on the CPU, the workload on the CPU cooler will rise proportionately, forcing the fans on the more remarkable to expand and keep it operating fantastic. For most consumers, the primary source of worry is noise.

We’ve highlighted several low-noise, best low-profile CPU coolers that keep temperatures under control. Unfortunately, integrating such a design in a compact area allows CPUs to be overclocked.

In addition, we’ve highlighted several eye-catching UFO-like designs that utilize sophisticated two-phase phenomena with copper particles to improve heat transmission capabilities and offer adequate headroom for overclocking high-end CPUs. We wish you luck searching for the most OK low-profile CPU cooler for overclocking.

One of the most significant considerations is the cost. So when we speak about coolers, we’re essentially talking about your PC’s insurance.

Because a decent CPU cooler is essentially insurance for a user who will get peak performance for the next 7-to 8 years, spending a little extra should be a good idea, mainly if you can get a CPU for $500 or more.

Height

The height of the cooler placed on the CPU is referred to as the base height. It runs from the top of the CPU socket to the top of the cooler.

This height is essential for small form factor (SFF) enclosures or home theatre PCs (HTPC), intended for tiny-sized components such as a Mini-ITX motherboard and low-profile CPU cooling.

Thermal Design Power

TDP is the amount of heat your CPU cooler candissipatese from the processor. It is also the amount of heat produced by a CPU.

Because it is the same thing, your cooler should have a greater TDP than the CPU. There is a lot of overclocking headroom if the margin is substantially expanded.

Aesthetics

Coolers have a variety of visual improvements that add to the component’s overall aesthetics. The usage of RGB is the most frequent. Then the color scheme and material choices set your cooler apart. These details become crucial when you have a see-through panel on your PC casinl. In addition, the degree to which the appearances may be customized makes them more appealing for purchasing.

Socket

Because of lithography and heat transfer restrictions, various manufacturers utilize different sockets for their CPUs. Intel presently offers the market’s two most common socket sizes, LGA1200 and LGA1151.

AMD’s AM4 socket has been around for quite some time. The socket size of your CPU and the compatibility of the CPU cooler must be compatible; else, it will not fit correctly.
